What can I do with a diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine after graduation?
Students that graduate with the Ayurvedic Health Counselor are eligible to conduct workshops, trainings and teach about the health-promoting benefits of Ayurveda as well as suggest nutritional and lifestyle protocols to clients. Students who complete the Ayurvedic Practitioner Program will have advanced knowledge in herbal formulations, and pathology of illness from the Ayurvedic perspective. Students have gone into private practice, creating their own facial and herbal remedies, clothing lines, and counseling. The advanced Ayurveda degrees allow for a more clinical focused practice since the bulk of the programs are hands-on clinical training.
Do I need any special requirements to practice Ayurveda?
No prior training or experience is required. Our students come from all backgrounds. While some may practice yoga, have a meditative practice, or even have a holistic medical background, this is not an expectation of pre-requisite. All the skills and knowledge required for success as an Ayurvedic practitioner will be fully and competently attained by the time you graduate from our programs.
What sets Sampoorna apart from other schools?
Our teaching philosophy is rooted in the historic and original texts. More specifically, the Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdaya Saṃhitā, Charaka Saṃhitā, the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali, and the broad schools of Advaita Vedānta. While the training is traditionally focused, the methods and delivery are fully accessible to Western students, as Sampoorna’s pedagogical approach is identical to that of any U.S. college or university.
Is the trip to India mandatory?
The trip to India is mandatory for any student completing the Ayurvedic Practitioner level. Students have the option of going before their second-year studies begin or once they’ve been completed. Any student in the Health Counselor Program may also attend and meet their in-person hours requirement; however, it is not mandatory for graduation. Additionally, anyone interested in experiencing India, who is not enrolled in an Ayurvedic program, may also attend.
